Why Surrendering Is Important
Now I'm going to tell you something that you may not like. You may think I'm out of my mind. You may start considering if visiting this site is a good idea after all. But here me out - because the thing I'm going to tell you about is a tough one and needs some time to be digested. It's not easy but it's all the more powerful. Read this article from beginning to end because you will only understand the big picture at the end of the story.
Let Go First
When you surrender, then you give up.
Well, not exactly. Because you don't give up the very thing you wish to obtain. But you do give up the need to obtain it.
Stay with me on this one because it is hard to grasp. But to make it a bit simpler, I would like to quote my favorite author, Joe Vitale: "You can get everything you want, as long as you don't need it." Right. You can get everything you want as long as you don't need it - as long as you are not desperate about it, as long as you are not coming from need and desperation. Now, is it surrendering? No, it's called letting go, letting go of clinging to the object of your desire.
Letting go is the first step toward surrendering. When you let go, you trust the thing to become yours - if that's the right thing for you, of course. (Note that it's harder to attract anything that comes from your ego. What I mean is that oftentimes we want things that don't really respond the desire coming from our soul but from our ego. Just ask yourself: are you sure you want to win the lottery? Why not ask for a business idea that will make you wealthy in not only riches but other wonderful things in life? Honestly - money isn't worth much when your health is poor, you are not doing what you like or are lonely and not surrounded by people you love.)
When you are grasping the thought of desperately wanting something, you are actually focusing on not having it. (Otherwise you wouldn't be thinking of wanting it). And you need to focus on the end result. Always.
So What Does It Mean to Surrender?
So what the heck do I really mean by this surrendering thingy? Well, I believe there is something more to life than what we consciously (or unconsciously?) experience. I believe there is a higher intelligence out there, you may call it whatever you want: Universe, God, Life, Higher Self and so on. I like to call it either Universe or Life. By higher intelligence I mean something that makes life itself and the natural laws, like the Law of Attraction possible. You don't have to believe in it but I am convinced that if you want to create the life you really, really want, then you have to approach success in a deeper level.
Okay, but how do you surrender? Well. According to the Law of Attraction, our thoughts are powerful and we create what we think about, spend energy on and have feelings for. What you think of expands - as one of the psychological principles says.
Your task is to think of something you want. Get clear on what you want and how you want it. Get clear on why you want it. Then when you are 100% clear on that, just let go of it, and forget about needing it. Then just trust the Universe to get it for you! Don't stress. Don't be desperate. Being desperate means that you are getting confused about still not having it and then you will be attracting the lack of it.
When you surrender, it means that you trust Life/the Universe/God to know what's best for you. If it is meant to make your life better and take you to another level, you will most likely get it. All you need to do is trust, feel safe and get clear.
I can tell you a secret: you are in very good hands. The Universe does know what's best for you, just don't lose your patience.
How Do I Know?
So why am I so sure about this? Or let me ask you: can you remember when chasing a dream, a thing, a job etc never led to actually achieving it, but when you said: "Oh, I give up, I can't go on anymore" was when a miracle happened and somehow you got hold of the very thing (or a similar one), someone offered you their help, a job, or something that resulted in you reaching your goal? Can you think of anything like that? Oh come on, just keep trying!
While you are forcing your braincells to work let me give you an example from my life when surrendering took me to my goal.
Last time I went to see my coach he really gave me a tough lesson and reminded me of what I'm actually writing about right here and right now. I went to see him because I was desperate, I had had enough of not having a job (oh didn't you know that? Instead of feeling sorry for myself and burying me in depression, I'm actually writing this blog on how you can have a happy life... you see? Next time you start complaining about something think of me, unemployed for long months, yet still managing to enjoy life and share my experiences with others just because I want to help) and I needed his help with that. He saw my desperation, got a little bit in my face and asked: why don't you let go of this desperate jobhunting? Why can't you just focus on what you like doing in life? Are you 100% clear on that? Get clear and trust the Universe. If the Universe thinks you need a job in order to achieve your goals and do what you love doing, then you'll get a job. Everything is okey."
Needless to say, I hated him for that. How could I forget about my fears just like that... When I don't even know how I'm going to do the payment of this domain name due next month... But I went home and felt that I didn't really have any other choice. As clinging to my fears, desires, doubts hasn't helped so far. So why not try a new approach? So I went to bed feeling calm and safe, knowing the Universe knows what's best for me. I totally surrendered.
Guess what. My phone rang the day after and I was called for a job interview. Things simply started to accelerate from that point on: I even made it to a second interview where I got to know I was one of the chosen ones out of 200 applicants!
I'm still waiting for an answer from the company but to be honest, I am much more calm now. I am experimenting with this new feeling and see where it takes me. One thing is sure: I haven't experienced such quick results in months. So I am determined to continue.
Does Surrendering Mean I Let the Universe Do the Job?
Nope. You simply trust the Universe to get you the circumstances, ideas, people, things, tools such as money and so on so that you can take inspired action. Yes. That's on you. That's your part. You still have to take inspired action.
But when everything falls in place, you will know what to do. You will know when to take inspired action - hence its name: inspired.
Like I said before: you are in good hands and everything is alright and will always be.
